Lake Oswego Real Estate

Lake Oswego is nested in the Willamette River’s western bank. It is part of Clackmas County, named after the Clackamas Indian tribe that inhabited the area before disease ravaged  their population.  Oswego was founded in 1847 by Albert Alonzo, who named the town after Oswego, New York.

In 1886 the Portland and Willamette Valley Railway was built, which linked Portland directly to Oswego and gave the town the ability to promote residential development and to diversify its economy, which had largely been based on iron and steel manufacturing. In 1910, Oswego was finally incorporated.
